FCC URGES ALL TO PROCEED WITH FM CONSTRUCTION 

The Federal Communications Ccmmissicn on April 5 officially denied 

A NEWS AGENCY REPORT QUOTING AN ALLEGED FCC SPOKESMAN AS SAYING "THAT 
SN VIEW OF THE VERY FEW FM SETS TO BE PRODUCED THIS YEAR, IT IS NAROlY 
WORTH WHILE FOR THE BROADCASTERS TO CONTINUE WITH STATION CONSTRUCTION 
PLANS,"

HANNA ELECTED NAB DISTRICT DIRECtOR 

The second djstrict of the National Association of Broadcasters elected 
Michael Hanna, general manager of radio station W'«H«C-U, Ithaca, New 
York, as district director on April 26o 

Hanna succeeds Kolin Hager, general manager of radio station W«G-Y, 
Schenectady, who was district director for four years® 

Hanna was elected for a two-year term® The vote was unaMmouSo 

WRUL SEEKS RETURN OF CONTROL 

Walter S® Lemmon, president of shortwave radio station W«R-U~L in 
Boston, Mass®, has asked the War Communications Board to return the 
station to his control, a Board spokesman said in Washington on April 23® 
The spokesman, who asked that his name be withheld, said the station 
WAS placed under government control early in the war, along with some 
other radio facilities® The station was operated by the Office of 
War Information until that organization was absorbed by the State De* 
partment wh ch now operates it, the spokesman said®
